Jonah 1-A third time!

June 23rd, 2009 · No Comments

Jonah 1:7 Then the sailors said to each other, “Come, let us cast lots to find out who is responsible for this calamity.” They cast lots and the lot fell on Jonah.

Crusty old sailors seeking God and the only way they knew how to do it was cast lots, basically roll the dice. Not exactly a recommended way to discover or hear the voice of God but amazing, God shows up.

Father, when people seek you, they find you no matter what methods or background or crap in their lives. Father you know the boxes that I have grown up with, boxes that prescribe how you can work, and especially how you can NOT work. Yet when my eyes read this passage I realize that you are a God who does as he pleases without my permission.

Father please my boundaries are can get so fixed, rigid and nasty. Where do I come off thinking that my boundaries are your boundaries. I know, You are God and I am not. That is abundantly obvious to me yet I still seem to find discomfort when you work outside of my boundaries.

Father I long to get lost in the wonder of your ways, especially when they make me uncomfortable.
