From South Africa

Sitting on the porch of Enjenjani’s house in Bukwini listening to the rosters and watching the sun arise from a cloudless sky. My first night in the Bukwini was exciting to say the least.

We arrived at 10:30 am to a mass hysteria generated by the Hippo Rollers. (http://hipporoller.org) The Roller folks had a still and videographer capturing and staging the whole scene which lasted much longer than necessary.

We stage a parada down the main entrance to Bukwini and then had a formal presentation of the rollers and then another parade to a near by watering hole to demonstrate how to fill the rollers.

Then back to the Child Sponsorship to give away food packets. Africa culture is quite entertaining! One Child Care Giver hoisted the roller onto her head and headed off down the road.

A couple of pieces of bread for lunch then a meeting with the committee. We are schedule to have a meeting with the paramount chief (grand poobah!) today, Friday. The committee continue to do an admirable job. We are challenging them to take over the whole process of the CSP.

The afternoon was filled with soccer and netball. I had to run to Port St. Johns for groceries and have dinner with Shea and Derek Poe and Daniel and Christi Fair. The team ate dinner and then gathered a crowd at the school and showed the Jesus Film.

I arrived after our team had retired so I haven’t gotten a download on the events. We go into the schools today to teach about HIV/AIDS.
